Part 1
Basics every employer should have
- A safe, clean workplace with drinking water, restrooms, ventilation, and fire safety.
- First-aid kits and trained first-aiders, and clear emergency procedures.
- Health insurance (group cover) and any statutory health or social-insurance benefits that apply.
- Reasonable working hours, regular breaks, and proper rest between shifts.
Part 2
Physical health
- Annual health check-up camps and vaccination or eye-check drives.
- Ergonomic chairs, screen setups, and reminders to take movement breaks.
- Yoga, stretching, or fitness sessions and walking or step challenges.
- Healthy options in the pantry and awareness sessions on nutrition and sleep.
Part 3
Mental wellbeing
- An employee assistance programme or tie-up with counsellors, with confidential access.
- Manager training to notice stress, and workload reviews during peak periods.
- A culture where taking leave and disconnecting after hours is normal.
- Mental-health awareness sessions and quiet spaces or wellness breaks.
Part 4
Financial wellbeing
- Clear payslips, tax-planning sessions, and help with investment declarations.
- Salary-advance policies and awareness of insurance, pension or retirement plans, and savings.
Part 5
Support during life events
- Maternity, adoption, and family-care policies applied kindly, plus a return-to-work plan.
- Flexibility during illness, bereavement, or caring for a family member.
- Reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities or long-term conditions.
Part 6
Measure and communicate
Track sick-leave patterns, participation, and survey results (in aggregate - never to single people out), and tell employees what is available. Many people have benefits they never knew about.
Part 7
Keep health information private
Medical details belong with HR and the person only. Collect the minimum needed, store it securely, and never share a diagnosis with managers or colleagues without consent.
