How to play - step by step

  1. 1

Collect facts from HR, leadership, and long-serving employees, and turn them into 30-40 questions.

  2. 2

Seat new joiners together with experienced colleagues in every team.

  3. 3

Run rounds: history, products, people, values, and “guess the office”.

  4. 4

Teams write answers; veterans help newer members.

  5. 5

Reveal each answer with a short story behind it.

  6. 6

Announce winners and share the answer sheet so everyone keeps learning.

Benefits

  • Builds teamwork by mixing people from different departments.
  • Shares knowledge in a fun, low-pressure way.
  • Rewards curiosity rather than seniority, so everyone can contribute.
  • Works in the office or online with almost no budget.

What you need

  • Questions about the company: founding year, products, clients, offices, values, policies.
  • Pictures of leaders, offices, products, and old logos for a picture round.
  • A screen, answer sheets or an online form, and small prizes.

Rules

  • Keep it positive: no questions that embarrass a person.
  • Each team must include at least one new joiner and one long-serving member.
  • Phones away - this is about what we know and share.

Scoring and winning

  • One point per question and a bonus for each correct “story behind it”.
  • Give a “fastest learner” award to the best new-joiner contribution.

Sample question ideas

  • In which year was the company founded, and where was the first office?
  • Name the three core values on our wall.
  • Which product did we launch first?
  • Who is the longest-serving employee in the company?
  • How many days of casual leave does the policy give each year?
  • Identify the office in this cropped photo.

Variations

  • Run it during the new-joiner orientation week.
  • Replace answer sheets with a live quiz tool on phones.
  • Make a “who said it?” round with anonymised quotes from past all-hands.

Playing it online

  • Share a link to the quiz and have teams discuss in breakout rooms.
  • Show photos and short clips on screen for the picture round.

Tips for the host

  • Add a funny fact or story to each answer.
  • Share the final answer key as a one-page “company facts” sheet.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Trick questions that make newer people feel left out.
  • Using facts that are out of date.
  • Making it a test that ranks individuals rather than teams.
