How to play - step by step

  1. 1

Make mixed teams of four to six and let each team choose a fun name.

  2. 2

The host reads each question twice, clearly, and shows it on screen if possible.

  3. 3

Teams discuss quietly for 30 seconds and write one answer on their sheet.

  4. 4

After each round, teams swap sheets and the host reads out the correct answers.

  5. 5

Add up the points, update the scoreboard, and announce the leaders.

  6. 6

Finish with a wager round or a sudden-death question to settle ties.

Benefits

  • Builds teamwork by mixing people from different departments.
  • Shares knowledge in a fun, low-pressure way.
  • Rewards curiosity rather than seniority, so everyone can contribute.
  • Works in the office or online with almost no budget.

What you need

  • A host (quizmaster) and, ideally, a co-host to keep score.
  • 40-60 prepared questions in 5-6 rounds, with answers.
  • A screen or projector (optional), pens, and answer sheets.
  • A scoreboard on a whiteboard or shared spreadsheet.

Rules

  • No phones or searching online during a round.
  • Only one answer per question - the first written answer counts.
  • The quizmaster’s decision on disputed answers is final.
  • Teams may not shout answers across the room.

Scoring and winning

  • One point per correct answer; two points for harder questions.
  • In the final wager round, teams bet up to half their points and win or lose that amount.
  • Prizes: top three teams plus a “most creative team name” award.

  • Seasonal edition around a festival, a sporting event, or the company anniversary.

Playing it online

  • Use a quiz platform on phones, or breakout rooms where teams write answers in a shared form.
  • Keep rounds short - 6 to 8 questions - to hold attention on screen.

Tips for the host

  • Test every question and keep a spare set for tie-breaks.
  • Mix easy and hard so every team scores in each round.
  • Keep the energy up with quick transitions and a lively host.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Questions that depend on one language, region, or generation.
  • Too many rounds - 5 or 6 is the sweet spot.
  • Unclear scoring and no final referee for disputes.
